Personal Blog | Blair's 2016 Christmas Decor
Hey guys! Blair here! Ahhhhhh the most wonderful time of the year has definitely sprung upon us and I couldn't be more thrilled! I've had my Christmas music blaring since before Thanksgiving (sorry hubby - yes I'm one of those girls) and I've already baked cookies about 5 times. So today for #whimsywednesday I'm sharing a quick blog of the inside of my home and alllllll things Christmas!
If you know me, you know I'm not afraid of color, like whatsoever. So a few years ago I chose a theme of bright turquoise, hot pinks, purples and greens and I've ran with it ever since! Each year I add a little bit more to my collection and I've just LOVED watching it come together over the years. That beautiful wooden JOY sign was hand painted by my good friend Whitney Val and I'm so incredibly obsessed with it! Being a small business owner now has really inspired me to shop local and shop small as much as I can so I'm SO proud to own a piece from Whit finally! Thanks Whit! (Last year she also surprised us one day with a clear glass ornament of our wedding invitation sliced up inside! How thoughtful and cool! Ugh, she rocks! - not pictured bc I suck and forgot to take a picture before blogging this LOL)
Now don't get me wrong, I love classic white lights, but this is my first year doing colored lights and I must say I'm obsessed with the atmosphere they give off. They remind me so much of my childhood and the innocence of those Christmas mornings waking up as early as you can to get to those presents! They give me all the feels and just make my heart all warm and happy!
Most years I spend the morning after Thanksgiving bringing out the fake tree and it's like a race to just get my decorations up and get it over with before my husband even wakes up. It's always felt like more of a hassle than fun. But this past year has been a total whirlwind of a year. We definitely took for granted all of the free time we always had together. My schedule is bazaar now. So we both wanted to make this years holiday season more special and meaningful and really take in all of it's greatness. So I drug my husband out one night to a local tree lot and we picked out our most perfect first real Christmas tree. After the branches finally fell a bit, we spent one whole night decorating the tree until 3 am, sipping whiskey and blasting NSYNC's Christmas album! It was truly the best night we've had in a while and I don't think we'll ever go back to our old habits. If you can turn the smallest of tasks into something meaningful, fun and special to you, then that's what really living feels like. So I encourage you all to just slow down and relax this holiday season and really take the time to just be with your loved ones, enjoy their company and start new traditions that are meaningful to you and yours!
That's all for now! Hope you guys enjoy!
