Hayden | Windsor Castle Park
A few weeks ago I stole this little miracle baby for a practice session/location scouting for her mommas engagements and we had the best time! Of course, it wasn’t without ice cream and playground bribery but hey, gotta do what ya gotta do, huh?! (Plus, the big kid in me wasn’t going to complain about ice cream and playground time myself.) We decided to check out Windsor Castle Park for some pretty barn action. We pulled up and there were two other photographers having sessions there and I can totally see why. The scenery was absolutely beautiful and perfect for that rustic feel if that’s what you’re going for. One of the photographers (which I regret not catching her name) even let us snag a few shots on a vintage couch she rented from Chic Unique Vintage Rentals in Suffolk. I thought that was the coolest and sweetest thing because I hate competition. Call me crazy but I love to see people happy and succeeding. Life is a journey, not a competition.
This shoot was so fun for me because I got to have Taylor Childress by my side helping with styling and posing. I asked Tay a few days before if she wanted to join me for the session because with an almost 5 year old, I figured I’d definitely need back up. She agreed and showed up with a truck FULL of props that she’d just gathered from around her house. I can always count on Tay to come through in the clutch. We worked together like a well-oiled machine. We just moved around each other effortlessly and we didn’t even have to say one word to each other. We both knew exactly what the other was thinking or wanted and it was just like this perfect internal bond. Taylor and I just GET each other. We always have. She’s the fruit to my loop and we are going to do some pretty amazing things in the future together.
On the long drive to Smithfield, Hayden asks from the backseat “Hey Blair, can I take a nap?” I mean, what kid asks if they can take a nap?! Haha, SCORE! A well-rested kid for hundreds of pictures sounded like a win win to me! & it was totally a win because when we arrived, we let her sleep in the car while we styled the scene and even scored some AWESOME shots of her still sleeping. There’s something about a child sleeping that is just so peaceful and innocent. Those sleeping beauty shots turned out to be some of my favorite from the shoot.
I mentioned earlier Hayden was a miracle baby, and I meant that quite literally. Haybug was born 3 months early but she’s a little fighter and fought through and hasn’t had any health problems since. Incredible! She’s sunshine mixed with a little hurricane. She’s a little Beyoncé in training. Diva is an understatement! & WE SERIOUSLY HAD SO MUCH FUN!
Thanks for reading and taking an interest into this new hobby of ours. It means the world to me. If you like what you see, don’t be afraid to hit that share button! ;) Taylor and I have some pretty gnarly things in the works so stay tuned! As always, contact me if you’re interested in a session!
