Heather & Chris Engagement Session

Blair and I went to Heather and Chris’ adorable home weeks after they moved in to be welcomed with a yummy dinner and wine to discuss all the inner workings of making Heather’s dream engagement shoot become a reality. As soon as she started talking about her love for all things glitter and floral, we were hooked. We spent about a month group chatting with Heather to coordinate props, styling and outfits. The location was easy since Heather and Chris had such a personal connection with First Landing State Park.

Chris was one of my first best friends when I started going to Western Branch in sixth grade. I am lucky enough to have countless memories spending weekends hanging out with our big group of friends all through middle and high school. Senior year Heather and Chris met and started dating and Chris actually introduced Heather to our rowdy crew at a party at my house! Throughout college we all remained in touch, helping each other through job offers and clinical hours. Our ties run deep and I couldn’t have been more thrilled when Chris reached out to get these pictures taken.
There were so many elements of this shoot that made it so personal and unique to them. As mentioned before, the location is where they spent some of their first dates. They have the sweetest dog, Blue (a beautiful, huge Cane Corso) that is truly a gentle giant (literally bigger than Blair) and so photogenic! Heather wore a lovely ring that was once Chris’ mom’s ring (so precious). The floral crown I crafted was completely custom to her vision and this shoot wouldn’t be complete without a shout out to Taylor Joyner for doing a flawless job on Heather’s make up and Aleah Culpepper for being an extra set of hands at the shoot helping with blue and simply being there for support. Both of the above mentioned girls have been apart of that huge crew I mentioned earlier. This whole shoot was a reminder that true friends and true love are a rare thing to come by. If you’re lucky enough to have it, hold it close.
As of this coming Thursday (September 8th) Heather and Chris will have been dating for six years. They got engaged last year when Heather planned a surprise birthday party for Chris but little did she know, the surprise was on her (tears.perfect.swooning. Right?) What I adore most about their relationship is that you can 100% feel their love and commitment to each other simply by being in the same room. From our dinner with them to the day of the shoot, Chris never let an opportunity pass to show Heather that he loves her and Heather never fails to show her appreciation. It was such an honor to be apart of and capture such special moments for a couple that means so much to me.
To Heather and Chris, Blair and I want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for allowing us to be apart of this special time in your lives. Happy early anniversary!
-XOXO Taylor & Blair-
